Awards Season: Screen Actors Guild 2015 Red Carpet

I know it sounds crazy but I didn't watch the Screen Actors Guild awards or the red carpet. I know, shocking. To be honest I was a little bored at the Golden Globes and I just wasn't feeling it last night, so instead I binge watched The Mindy Project and decided to review the fashions online today.

Now that I see everyone who attended and what they wore I'm pretty disappointed that I didn't watch! Part of the reason I wasn't that in to the Golden Globes this year is because most of the shows I love weren't nominated and so my go-to favorite red carpet celebs didn't even attend. But at the SAGs, all my favorites from Game of Thrones and Modern Family, etc. were there and looking great! Here are the looks that stood out to me the most:

Lupita, I love you. This dress is amazing and I chose this picture so you can see just how beautiful and flowy it is. She always looks so gorgeous!

So this is a risky look but Emma Stone almost always does make bold choices. I'm actually very interested to see her looks over the entire award season. I think this is really chic and could have been a hot mess but is executed perfectly.

Maisie Williams, I love seeing her look so girly at events like this because her Game of Thrones character never gets to look glamorous. I don't really love her shoes here and the top could fit just a little better but this look is very pretty and age appropriate. Plus I love the fabric and the color!

Sophia Bush is so darn beautiful. Seriously she could wear a bag and I think she would look amazing. I love that she is back on TV and attending these events! But I do really like this color on her and the styling, I don't love the fit of the bottom part of the dress or the slit but the bodice and her accessories make up for it.

Reese, looking perfect as per usual. Not much to say here, look at the pic, she is stunning.

Don't judge me but I sort of love this look on Rosamund Pike, especially given the disaster that she wore to the Golden Globes. I actually really like the shape of this, and I like her styling so... way to pull it out Ros!

I think I've learned my lesson on the skipping red carpets and award shows front. Have no fear, I'll be tuning in to the Grammy's and the Oscars and reporting back with my favorites and perhaps my least favorites if there are some truly hot messes out there! Stay tuned!

Here's what I think: MTV Movie Awards Fashion Recap

I love watching what people wear to award shows hosted on MTV, some people really know how to do it up in a fun but fashionable way while others completely lose their minds and show up in the most ridiculous clothes you might ever see! Here's a recap of how things went down last night.

Fashion Favorites - these are my top choices for the night, these stars really know how to have fun with fashion but also keep it appropriate and stylish.

These poor girls look very pretty but also look like they shopped in the juniors section at Dillards, oh so boring.

And here are a few of the stars that let their freak flags fly last night. I'd just like to say to Taylor Lautner that I see where he was coming from and I think he thought it was pretty funny but seriously he just needs to get over the fact that girls primarily like him because he looks hot without a shirt. Sorry but you've got a ways to go before you're appreciated for your acting chops.

Here's what I think: Two dresses, One night - Oscar party dresses

How lucky to be these beautiful nominees and to get to wear two amazing dresses in one night!

Love this gold flapper look on Amy!

I wasn't a fan of the pink, but I love the gold neckline on dress #2

Gorgeous! Loving both looks!

Here's what I think: OSCARS Fashion Recap

It finally came, the culmination of all the red carpets and award shows this season! The Oscars! There were a lot of great fashions last night at the Academy Awards, the weather was beautiful and the stars flaunted their flirty spring looks and glammed it up for Hollywood's biggest night!

Here are my top 5 favorites of the night (counting down 5 to 1):
#5 - Kerry Washington - I wish this photograph looked as good as what she looked like in HD television because this was really pretty and I picked it because I love this color!
#4 - Jennifer Lawrence - so happy for J-Law, she looked beautiful and even though she tripped up the stairs on the way to get her best actress award, this dress was well worth it. My favorite part was her necklace worn pulled up to the neckline in front and hanging in the back, so pretty!
#3 - Charlize Theron - gorgeous, this looks so amazing on her body and I love the new short hair! Perfectly styled and who knew she was such a beautiful dancer?

#2 - Jessica Chastain - I love this dress, I've heard it said that it might be too close to her skin tone but I just love it, the detail in the pattern and the sparkle is fantastic. I like her hair like this, I know she wears it like this a lot but unfortunately I've hated her hairstyles when she tries to change it up, so I'm happy she stuck with this. The red lip ties this whole look together, if she went with a nude lipstick the whole look would have changed and she would have looked completely washed out, but she did everything perfectly to make this look amazing!
#1 - Naomi Watts - This is the kind of dress I look for on the red carpet. I love things that are different, that make a statement and that don't look like every other dress I've seen the star wear in the past. The neckline on this makes the dress, if it was just a sweetheart it wouldn't have nearly the same appeal. I also love the material. She was the only star that I saw that took a "fashiony" risk that paid off.

Honorable mention - I really loved Halle Berry's dress. The more I looked at it the more I liked it. Until I saw Jane Fonda and then I realized that they had pretty much the same dress and Jane Fonda has got at least 20 years on Halle Berry so I thought maybe this wasn't the most age appropriate for Halle. That being said, her body looks amazing and her skin is flawless. I hate her hair though.

Some things I didn't love:
Amanda Seyfried - Okay this picture isn't so bad, I like the pattern on this, and I was really excited to hear she was going to wear McQueen because she wore an amazing McQueen dress to the Les Mis premier, but this didn't work for me. During her interviews she wasn't standing up straight and you could see that the top didn't fit perfectly and kept gaping. I do love her hair and was very happy that she pulled it back like this!
Anne Hathaway - first I'd like to say that I'm very happy for her and her big win. I don't think there was any question that she would win this award after sweeping all the others, and she totally deserves it for her performance of "I Dreamed a Dream" alone, every time I hear or see her sing that song I cry, she is so fantastic. That being said, I don't like this dress. I think it would have been better if it didn't have the second seam at the waist. If it just had the empire waist and the darts weren't pointing at her nipples that would have been better. The back is pretty and I like her hair and make up. I also don't mind this color on her, some people thought it washed her out but I think it makes her look pretty and soft. Just sad about the seams and darts otherwise I think this could have worked, but nothing about it wows me.

One last thing I wanted to point out - did anyone have deja vu over Zoe Saldana's dress? This reminded me so much of this other dress she wore a few years ago. I loved that dress and this one seemed too similar and wasn't as special so I was disappointed.

Here's what I think: Oscars fashion speculation

InStyle posted this on facebook and I can't control my compulsion to speculate! According to Zac Posen, we'll see these dresses on the Oscars red carpet.

So, who will be wearing these beautiful gowns? Here are my guesses!

1. Naomi Watts, although I don't think she'll do this color since she previously wore the same shade, maybe we'll see this in a navy on her?
2. Kelly Osbourne, Kelly will be there for E!'s red carpet coverage and it's no secret she's a fan of Posen's work, this dress would look so pretty with her coloring and lilac hair. She did however have a matchy matchy moment earlier in the award season so we'll see.
3. This is pretty simple so I'm leaning toward Stacey Keibler who may attend on the arm of George Clooney in support of Argo.
4. This dress would look amazing on Amanda Seyfried, and it wouldn't be her first Zac Posen carpet look. This color would offset her light skin beautifully, I only hope that she does something different with her hair, I'd like to seen it pulled up in a romantic updo like this one worn by Lauren Conrad.

Here's what I think: Grammy's Hottness

Last night was Grammy night! I love the Grammy's because typically, the stars take a lot more fashion risks for this particular show so it's exciting to see what everyone is wearing! CBS tried to put the kibosh on that this year, thankfully unsuccessfully! I'm not really sure what's so wrong with showing the curvature or your breast, or your "puffy skin" which I think was supposed to mean cleavage? But, the stars were having none of it. Sure, they tried to play closer to the rules but basically they're gonna wear what they want to wear and that's just fine by me! The only rule that I think was taken more seriously was not showing nipples, which is good because no one really wants to see that!

My best dressed of the night was Justin Timberlake, rocking his suit and tie with that amazing print! Justin also delivered on his first Grammy performance in four years! So glad this guy is back in music!

As for the ladies, my pick for best dressed of the night goes to Rhianna. She looked so beautiful in all of the outfits she wore but this red dress and the long waves is gorgeous on her. On TV you couldn't tell that this dress was sheer so at first I thought it was pretty safe, especially for Rhianna who takes such risks with her fashion, but in photographs you can see the sheer portions, which I think makes this even prettier.

Another look I loved last night was Florence Welch. I normally don't like her fashion choices, but this emerald gown with spikes really says Grammy's to me and it looks so good with her hair. I was blown away. I could have done without all the matchy matchy though. Yes, emerald is the color of the year, but do you really need a purse and shoes in the exact same shade as the dress? Probably not. It would have looked pretty with gold or silver accents. Katy Perry also rocked the green last night and looked flawless, she said she was channeling Priscilla Presley and she pulled it out!

You could argue that Katy's cleavage was pushing the rules, but it's nothing on Kelly Rowland who stunned in this amazing cut out dress. Her body is hot hot hot, if I looked like that I'd want to show it off too. There were lots of jokes about how the memo was in response to some risque ensembles worn over the years, especially, JLo's plunging Versache gown several years ago. JLo "played it safe" for her in this high slit, one shoulder that shows off her safer assets!
A couple more looks that I liked last night, while they weren't that exciting, I still thought they deserved a mention! Beyonce's pant suit, love it. I like that the legs are tight fitting, so often pant suits have wide legs which I don't ever find flattering. And finally, Taylor, looking pretty in white and gold. I love the gold details on this dress. I don't love her hair here (although I've heard lots of good comments about it from others) I thought she looked better after her performance when she left it down. And she was seriously having a good time at the show. Every time the camera caught her she was dancing and singing like she was at a rock concert!
It was a successful fashion night at the Grammy's despite the drama surrounding the dress code. And to be honest, I think this dress code issue just brought pretty mild displays of breasts in to the spot light more than anyone would have noticed if the memo had never been issued.

One last note, the Grammy's are all about performances and totally didn't disappoint last night! My favorites were Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars/Sting/Rhianna/The Marleys, and Maroon 5 with Alicia Keys (seriously, Alicia Keys and Adam Levine sound so amazing together), also Kelly Clarkson was fantastic!

Another red carpet down! Here we come Oscars!

Here's what I think: SAG Awards Fashion Review

Awards season is marching on and the stars keep pulling out all the stops to look their best! Last night at the SAG-AFTRA awards we celebrated the actors of television and film. This award is special because the awards are given based on the votes of members of the screen actors guild, the actors themselves. What's also great about this show is that because it strictly celebrates acting, it's pretty short and sweet, it's just a fun party for the actors where they happen to pat each other on the back for their amazing work this year!

Visions in black... and blue!

Black and blue were definitely a hot trend on the red carpet last night and these ladies brought their A-game. There was so much of the trend that you'd think it was listed as dress code on the invite! I've never seen Tina Fey look so good on the red carpet, and I'm obsessed with her belt on this dress! Amy Poehler looked stunning in this fitted black number, much better than the suit jacket and capris that she wore to the Globes! Jennifer Lawrence is always one to watch this season and didn't disappoint in this tiered gown. Amanda Seyfried's dress is beautiful, I just wish she was more polished in interviews. And Nicole Kidman looked absolutely gorgeous in this black and blue, though I wish it was a little longer to cover her toes.

Stand outs in color!

I'm obsessed with this dress that Nina Dobrev wore (see below for closer look), the cut, color and cut-outs are all perfect! Jessica Chastain stepped it up in this bombshell red and deep side part. Red hair with red dress on red carpet suits her well, much better than the look from the Globes. As for Alexis Bledel don't judge me, I picked this for the color which is beautiful and if this dress fit her better I think it would be amazing. As it is it's a little loose in the wrong places and doesn't completey flatter her usually tiny frame. But the color is hot.

Worst of the night!
I really hate this, sorry Anne but non of it works for me. I hate the length (both lengths), I hate the cut of the top, I hate the shoes and I hate the hair. One thing going for her is her always flawless face. She really knows how to wear make up and her face looks beautiful.

That wraps it up for my SAG Awards fashion review! And we're one month away from the Oscars! The count down is on!
