Emmy Fashion Recap 2015

It is with horror that I have to tell you that I completely forgot about the Emmy Awards last night. I was kind of absorbed in reading and then watching my current obsession (Veronica Mars). So I missed all of the live red carpet coverage and the show itself but I did catch up on the highlights this morning.

First, I know it might not seem like that big of a deal that I missed it and honestly it's really not hard to catch up with the internet. But I love award shows. There's something really great about feeling so invested in the actors that bring your favorite shows to life, and I always cry. It's silly but I do, every damn award show. And who doesn't love a good happy cry? So, in missing it live where I can happily tear up in the comfort of my home, I was forced to embarrassingly choked up at my desk.

Second, I really do prefer to watch the red carpet and get a genuine first impression experience when it comes to the fashion but the sites that do a really good job of recapping and showing the red carpet arrivals are E Online and Huffington Post. They are my go-to sources for pictures of red carpet fashion.

With that here is my favorite look of the night:
Zoe Kazan was nominated for her role in Olive Kitteridge, but I know her from a cute little movie she made with Daniel Radcliffe called What If, it's on Netflix and it's super cute so you should check it out. I love the pattern, the accessories, her make up and hair. Just in general this is all around my favorite.

Going a little more classic, I also really liked Emma Roberts' look last night.

One thing I really didn't love was this look on Nazanin Boniadi, I see where she was trying to go with this, and she is SO beautiful, but the flesh colored part did not work at all for me, and it doesn't fit her.

To wrap things up, I just want to say how excited I was for The Voice and Game of Thrones last night. It's about time Game of Thrones wins Best Drama Series. It is the best. No joke.

And, happy premier week, enjoy new episodes of your favorite shows! I am so excited for the start of The Voice, Modern Family and Grey's Anatomy (to name a few).

Emmy's Fashion Recap 2014

It's Emmy's time! I love that we have a little random award show to tide us over until the award season begins in a few short months. Last night at the 66th Annual Emmy Awards there were some hits and a few misses. But we'll get in to all of that below!

My favorites of the night:

Julianne Hough - my overall favorite of the night didn't get a lot of screen time as she wasn't nominated but this look (especially shoulders up) was my personal favorite. She's styled just right and I absolutely love her hair and make up. The dress is hard to photograph but I love the big bow detail and the dramatic slit.

Hayden Panettiere - look at this cute mom-to-be! This dress is so flattering on her tiny pregnant frame and I love the light pink choice, perfect for her big gender reveal to Guilliana on the red carpet. (If you didn't catch that, she's having a girl!)

Sarah Hyland - among the many many red dresses of the night this one stands apart, so it's more coral than red, it still fits! This look is so young and fresh, perfect for the Modern Family star. From the crop top to the full skirt and ballerina bun, this is perfect head to toe!

Honorable Mention:

While these didn't stand out the way my favorites did, I absolutely love this red dress on Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the detailing on Michelle Dockery's gown.

Let down of the night:

While she took away the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series again this year for Breaking Bad, I was let down by this look on Anna Gunn. Don't get me wrong, she really does look beautiful; but, she looked so amazing last year I thought this look fell a little flat in comparison.

And the worst (it's just my opinion):

These voluminous looks were my least favorite of the night. Sorry Sarah Paulson and Lena Dunham.

So that's a wrap on Emmy's 2014, is it bad that I'm already looking forward to February? Red carpets and award shows are one of my great loves, looking forward to cozying up and enjoying some fashion this winter!

Here's what I think: Emmy's Fashion Recap

It's that time again, Emmy's fashion recap time! Last night at the 64th annual Prime Time Emmy Awards, TV's hottest stars got all dolled up to walk the red carpet and celebrate televisions biggest night of the year. There were some definite statements made and in general the ladies of the small screen looked beautiful. With record high temperatures, bright summery colors dominated the scene!

This might be the first time I've ever not had a "Best Dressed" pick. Many of the stars look gorgeous, but no one really wowed me. What I'm looking for is head-to-toe, on-trend, cutting-edge fashion in my best dressed pick and no one really did that for me this year. However, I will say that my favorite trend of the night was ORANGE, and that Ginnifer Goodwin of Once Upon a Time came closest to fitting the bill for me.

Another color trend on the red carpet last night was seafoam green, which was pulled off beautifully by Heidi Klum and Julianne Hough who looked like a mermaid in her sparkling gown.

I love to see a good print pulled off expertly. When done right prints look fresh and young like Modern Family's Ariel Winter shown below. When done wrong, it looks like the upholstery on your grandma's sofa, as demonstrated by Julianna Margulies.

I can't talk about red carpet fashion without mentioning the worst dressed on the list. Let me just say to all you stars out there, please look in the mirror before trotting down the red carpet. Julianne Moore looks like Big Bird in this giant yellow ball gown. This dress could have been a hit with a few modifications, I do like the high neck and long sleeve; however the corseted middle hits her under the breasts in a very uncomplimentary way and if you're going with the long sleeves it's best to keep the volume on the bottom to a minimum. This would have looked great as a long sheath jersey knit with a sleek pony tail.

I don't have a lot to say about Ashely Judd here, I didn't even see her on the red carpet last night and happened upon this picture this morning. This looks like a southern belle bridesmaid dress. The fabric is awful, even if you removed the horrifying halter bow and flower embellishment it would still be unflattering.
