Oscars Fashion 2014

Well, I missed the Oscars last night because I was on my honeymoon! However, I did catch the very end at the airport and then caught up on YouTube today! Here are my top 3 of the night!
There were some other really nice dresses but overall these were my favorites, I would wear any one of these if given the opportunity and the styling is beautiful!

And, in my googling of the red carpet images (since I missed watching it live) I happened upon this and was horrified, so I'm making it my worst look. Not because the dress is ugly or the styling is off, but because Kelly needs a burger ASAP. Too skinny! Looking at this makes me sad.
Happy Oscars everyone! While I think the movies this season were less spectacular than years past, especially coming off last season which was SO amazing, the fashion hasn't disappointed. Big take away from this season, Lupita Nyong'o is going to be a huge star, and I can't wait to watch what she wears for years to come!

Here's what I think: Oscar Fashion Wrap Up

Last night at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, the stars were out in the finest. There were so many good red carpet gown choices that it was hard to think of any for the "worst" list! Here is a recap of some of the highs and lows of the evening.

My Favorites:
Mila Kunis: I love this color with her skin tone. The cut of the dress fits her body perfectly and her accessorizing is impeccable. When I first saw it I wasn't sold on it, it took me a little while looking at this because of the sheer portions and the lace coming up over her chest, but as an overall look I think she looks flawless!

Cate Blanchett: This is my favorite overall look of the night. I am a little in love with this dress. I love how she so effortlessly pulls off fashion risks like this. The color and fit are perfect and I love the top part of this dress with the peep hole center and all of the beading. Her hair and accessories are perfectly simple to go with this complex fashion statement.

Amy Adams: I really love this dress. The color and the silhouette are gorgeous on her small frame. What I don't love about this is the necklace and the hair. While her hair looks nice, with a high neckline like this I would have preferred to see it pulled back in an elegant up-do. I think the way the necklace lays over the dress is not very flattering, I would have gone with either no necklace and rocked just the bracelet or done a bolder and bigger necklace that came just around the collar of the dress. Her make up was beautiful and the dress alone is stunning.

My Least Favorite:
Helena Bonham-Carter: I don't want to even talk about this. I respect that she is an actress and cares more about her craft than her fashion sense, so I have eliminated her from the running of wort dressed. Because honestly, if she were in the running, this is hands down the worst of the night.

Scarlet Johansson: I don't like anything about this. I have heard some positive feedback on this dress and it confuses me. Her overall appearance is, like her hair, a total mess. The back of this dress was very beautiful, I like the cut out  to show off the back. I'm not crazy about the color, I'm confused as to whether it is sheer or not, and I really hate that she didn't put some cover up on that tattoo. As an overall look this was my least favorite of the night.

Nicole Kidman: Very sad. She is so gorgeous. Her hair, makeup and the shoes are lovely, but this dress does nothing for her figure. She has a very tall and thin, super-model-ish figure and the way the structure of this dress hits at her hips it made her waist and hips look much larger than they are. I'm also not crazy about the detailing on the front.

And with that, the awards season - and red carpet fashion season - comes to an end.

Here's what I think: Walking the Oscar Red Carpet in Style

This Sunday, the 83rd Annual Academy Awards will air on ABC, the climax of a great award season. Aside from the excitement of the awards and the recognition of the best film makers of the past year, I look forward to this night for one major reason - the fashion!

Watching the stars get all gussied up makes me wonder what I would wear if I were so luck to attend and walk that coveted red carpet. While, reviewing some of the runway shows I found exactly the kind of dress I would hope to wear to such an occasion.

These dresses from Ellie Saab are the epitome of Oscar appropriate fashion! I would wear the silver beaded dress exactly as is with a sleek up do, or a sleek long pony tail. The pink flower embellished dress I would also wear as is or in a bolder color like emerald green or royal blue. What's pretty about it is the flowers and it would look beautiful in any color but a bolder color would stand out on the red carpet and make it more fashion forward. With this dress, I would wear a wavy un-done up-do.

To accessorize these gowns I would avoid a necklace, the dresses on their own are a statement which relieves the need of a statement piece of jewelry. I would pair a cuff bracelet, like the one below from Harry Winston; small earrings, like these from Tacori; and carry a sleek clutch like this one from Michael Khors.

I'm looking forward to seeing all the red carpet fashions this Sunday on Live from the Red Carpet on E! and will report back with my favorite and not-so-favorite looks of the night!

Here's what I think: Oscar Fashion

Sunday at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards the stars were dressed to impress. There were so many beautiful fashions that it's hard to pick the best and worst, instead here are my favorite, not-so-favorite, and my pick for most improved.

My favorite- Zoe Saldana, I love this dress, the sparkle at the top, the ruffles on the bottom, the color gradient and the high front split. Everything about this works for me!

My least favorite - Charlize Theron, I just don't get it. It looks like someone grabbed her breasts from behind and it left an imprint. Not crazy about the bust detail, it draws the eye too much and distracts from her overall appearance.

My pick for most improved - Tina Fey, this works for her, she usually is too plain or completely over the top (in the wrong way). I like the pattern and texture of this, it's black but not boring, and the neckline is very on trend. It does make her look a little short, but compared to the disaster that was the Golden Globes this is a move in the right direction.
