Golden Globes Red Carpet Review

I'm a little behind on my post for this one but I'm so excited to start the awards season fashion recap blogs! It's my second favorite time of year (behind the holiday season) and this year we get to stretch it out a little more because due to the Olympics The Oscars will not be held until March 2nd! But let's not get ahead of ourselves. The 71st Annual Golden Globes was held Sunday night and the red carpet was over flowing with A-List stars from TV and film.

STAPLE ALERT - Red is the new black
I can't call red dresses on the red carpet a trend anymore because it seems they are becoming a staple among the stars. Red was definitely the biggest trend of the night with so many stars choosing the bold look. What I will call a trend among these is the two tone looks we see here which were my favorites among the red looks of the night, with the exception fo Lupita Nyong'o's caped dress which was completely flawless. SO MUCH RED!

TREND ALERT - Baby bumps
Okay so it's probably not feasible for everyone to adapt this trend to their looks but there were some seriously gorgeous bumps on the carpet! Olivia Wilde was my top choice for pregnant fashionista. She looks so good, even without her maternal accessory this would have been a top choice of the night!

MY FAVORITE - Margot Robbie
I haven't seen Wolf of Wallstreet so Margot wasn't really on my radar, but this look was by far my favorite of the night. The fit is perfect, the jeweled accent is to die for, and the emerald shoe to match is fantastic. Not to mention, her beautifully spray tanned skin, makeup and hair. The overall look is so polished and glamorous!

I also just want to say how happy I was that Breaking Bad won, and that Amy Poehler won for Parks and Recreation! She could literally be my best friend, I love her to pieces. I am however, deeply wounded that Aaron Paul didn't win for his role in Breaking Bad, Jesse was my favorite character and he was amazing.

PS Amy & Tina were not only hilarious but absolutely stunning!

Okay, that's all.

Here's what I think: Golden Globes Seriously Hot Couples

The men weren't looking to shabby last night at the Golden Globes, but their best accessories were definitely their wives! Check out the hot couples from the red carpet!

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner

Daniel Craig and Rachel Weitz

Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeld

Emily Blunt and Jon Krasinski

Here's what I think: Golden Globes 2013 Best and Worst Fashion Moments

So many amazing looks last night at the 70th annual Golden Globes presentation and I was watching E! Live from the Red Carpet to catch all the looks before the show started!

There were so many really beautiful gowns at the show last night, so I've chosen just a few of my top favorite complete looks from the night. These ladies look gorgeous head-to-toe, complete perfection!

I'm obsessed with these hard metallic belts with gowns right now, this look on Jennifer Lawrence was beautifully put together and I'm loving this new sexy vibe that Taylor has been going for lately, seriously she's never looked better!
Can you believe that Claire Danes had a baby just one month ago? Her body looks so amazing in this gown, I just could not get over how fantastic she looks post baby. Katherine McPhee looked stunning in this black plunging neckline, you can't see in this picture but the side view of this look is breathtaking. Finally, Jessica Alba just looks so pretty and put together I had to include her, plus I love this color!

And now for the worst, I have to preface this by saying that although these stars are beautiful, these looks just didn't work for me:

I really hate to say anything bad about Lena Dunham's dress here, it is a gorgeous dress and really is very flattering in photos as you can see here; however I didn't like it because she looked so incredibly uncomfortable in it. It wasn't her style and it didn't flatter her tattoos. Also, she really needed to practice walking in heals because she looked a bit ridiculous walking to and from the podium.

As for Amanda Seyfried, I really hate this. The detailing on the bodice doesn't do what it should for her body, she's a thin girl but the way this is cut makes her look like she's got love handles and that pin holding together the top isn't helping matters. I wish she would have done something with her hair. She has beautiful hair and I love this style for every day or for interviews, etc. but not for the Golden Globes. I mean, come on she's part of the cast for a best motion picture nominee (which won by the way) and she couldn't come out in something a little more put together? I hope she goes all out for the Oscars to make up for this.

This past week has been a great start to awards season and I can't wait to watch through February to see how the starts celebrate their achievements through fashion!

Here's what I think: Golden Globes Memorable Moments

The 70th annual Golden Globes was presented on NBC last night! This is my favorite award show, not only because it has both television and film representation but also because it seems like a really fun party. If I could plan any party in my lifetime, it would be the Golden Globes! I have a lot to say about the show last night so I've decided to split my blog posts in to shorter posts organized by theme. In this post, I'd like to talk about the top moments from the evening:

1. Tina Fey & Amy Poehler as hosts - these girls did a great job, very funny and not too over the top. The most offensive moment of the night was when Amy Poehler said "When it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron." about "Zero Dark Thirty" director Kathryn Bigelow, to a shocked audience but in comparison to Ricky Gervais in past years, that was nothing . Other memorable host moments included; each host dressing as fake nominees and referring to President Clinton as "Hilary Clinton's husband or Bill Rodham Clinton." Really funny night and neither of these ladies has ever looked better!

2. Funny acceptance speeches - this is one of the reasons that I like award shows so much. You get to see what stars are really like and more often than not, they are funny and relateable people who are just honored to be doing what they love. The best moments of the night included Adele's win for best original song because she was so genuinely surprised (although I don't think she should have been, Skyfall is an excellent song) and Jennifer Lawrence's "I beat Meryl" speach.

3. Jodi Foster's lifetime achievement - Robert Downy Jr. is always a fun choice for presenter, and I appreciated that he was very sweet and apologetic prior to digging in on her. Her speech on the other hand was a little odd. Kind of all over the place and seemed very much like a farewell to Hollywood speech, but it was touching and clearly resonated with the audience of her peers as they were all in tears by the end.

4. Will Ferrell and Kristen Wigg as presenters - pretty much just hilarious, I can't even describe how wonderful this was, I was almost in tears over how funny it was... here just watch it for yourself if you missed it:

5. Ben Afleck and Argo win- lovely moment, everyone was so excited for him as demonstrated by the standing ovation he received, and I just love how in love he and his wife are. Cute moment later when Jennifer presented and named a few people Ben forgot in his speach.

All in all, it was a great show full of wonderful, funny moments! And this doesn't even include all of the gorgeous fashion from the night. See my other Golden Globes posts to see what I thought of the red carpet looks of the night!

Here's what I think: Gold dresses at the Golden Globes

Looking forward to the 70th annual Golden Globes this Sunday, January 13th and another red carpet show! I love award shows, most particularly for the fashion and especially love it when the stars bling out in gold for the Golden Globes! Check out these past glittery statements!

Hoping to see a lot more sparkle this Sunday, and look for a blog post next week with my picks for the best and worst dressed of the night!
